e107 v0.554beta

Well time has been really tight lately and even though I've still been devoting quite a bit of time to 0.554 there is still a lot of things that I'd hoped to add before I released it, but as time constraints won't be getting any easier for the next couple of weeks at least I've decided to release it in it's present state.

Well time has been really tight lately and even though I've still been devoting quite a bit of time to 0.554 there is still a lot of things that I'd hoped to add before I released it, but as time constraints won't be getting any easier for the next couple of weeks at least I've decided to release it in it's present state. Quick list of the major changes ... - Public upload scripts are finished, and you can choose to store the uploaded files either as normal files on your server or as binary data in the database. Both have pros and cons, binary is more secure but adds overhead to the database. Binary storage also means that backing upo the db will back up your files. - Avatar upload is complete, users now have three choices - choosing an avatar from the list on your server, entering a full path to an image on a remote server or uploading their own (if you have it enabled). - You now have a choice to track users with either cookies or sessions. I have the session code running perfectly on three servers but for some reason it wont work on e107.org, you'll have to see how it works for you. The sessions are handled by a custom session handler and session data is stored in the database. - You now have the option to back up your core settings, if you encounter a critical fault with your core the backup will instantly be made the active core. The core is backed up into your database during the upgrade process. - As you might have noticed from the bug tracker a lot of lingering and fairly new bugs have finally been put to the sword, thanks to everyone who posted. And a small list of what I had planned but will now be put off until 0.555 ... - Split forum pages, and a better defined list of old pages (seen the problems forum? It looks messy now it's 60-odd pages long) - A rewrite of the log routines, they're old and bloaty and use up far too much db space - Better image handling, the resize handler is written but not really implemented yet. Please note, and this is important, although as usual I've been testing this for a week or so before release, something might have crept through, hence the beta status still being there. If you have a well established site please wait a few days before upgrading in case there are any critical errors. Upgrade Instructions ... 1. Backup your config.php 2. Upload all files, apart from config.php! 3. Browse to upgrade.php and follow the instructions. Please post feedback here and I'll do my best to clear up any problems as quickly as possible. Thankyou. Update A couple of files were left in accidently, please delete menus/plugins/journal.php and menus/plugins/journal_data.php.
